Headwaters Experience RANCHO SECO Full Moon Paddle
18-Apr-2017Headwaters Experience RANCHO SECO Full Moon Paddle
June 9th 2017
This Headwaters Experience is certain to make you go "AH"! What could be better than sitting in your kayak, watching the sunset at 8:27pm , followed by the rise of a Full Strawberry moon at 8:37pm! In the background are two iconic towers that hint at the history of why SMUD owns this part of southeastern Sacramento County.
$35 per person. (Sorry, no refunds or substitutions)
If you need to contact Lynn for any reason on the day of the paddle, please call or text my cell # 916-698-1518. Leave me your name, number and a message.
You'll be required to have your own kayak and gear (or rent one from Dan) for this paddle.
Everyone MUST be inside the park by 6pm as there is an automatic gate that will close and no access will be granted. (the gate will open automatically when we leave). Since we'll have a little time before our paddle, please bring along something to eat, a beach blanket or towel, bug spray and we'll sit along the shoreline enjoy the nice summer evening and do some introductions and talk a little bit about ourselves.
We will launch promptly at 7:15pm. Please park in the lot (on the left) just after you drive over the dam. There are restrooms here if you need to change.
Once we launch, we'll paddle counter clockwise around the lake at a leisurely pace exploring the nooks and crannies, and maybe we'll even spot the family of otters that live here. We might see bats zipping by, hawks flying overhead or the plunk of a fish grabbing a bug off the water.
All paddlers must wear their PFD at all times and remain with the group. You should be wearing proper clothing (no cotton) such as technical clothing that will wick water and dry quickly if you get wet. Bring a change of clothing with you, in a dry bag, just in case you take a spill.
Because we are paddling in twilight, please bring a red (bike lights work very well) to clip on the front or rear of your kayak. This is so I can keep track of everyone.
Park fees: Day use and kayak launch = $13 per vehicle.
**Please Note** This paddle is for customers bringing their own equipment and paddling experience is recommended.
