I Broke My Foot! 2025 Injury Update

Man Waiting in ER with Broken foot
Hanging in the ER

In 2025 I expected to hit the ground running with a series of videos covering everything from Comparisons, How To Videos, Best Marketplace Scores etc. Instead I find myself sitting in a chair with my foot up talking about a 2025 Injury update. About three weeks ago after a high school mountain bike team practice I was riding our paved pumptrack with some of the kids. We were all pushing it and having a great session, when I pushed a little to hard. I lost my front tire in the air and came down hard on my left foot rolling it on impact. I ended up having 7 fractures and needing to have surgery to pin it back together. Here I am 2 weeks post surgery figuring out my new way forward with the channel. Despite all this I remain optimistic that there is some divine good in all of this, and I'm trusting to come out the other side stronger and smarter for having lived through it. If you'd like to support me head over to Headwaterskayak.com and look at buying an Aquabound Paddle, or if your in Northern CA, I'm still offering demos on Mocean, Hurricane, Stellar and any of my used fleet. I'm excited to get back into working directly with my customers. Talk with you soon! Dan

Hope you are continuing to manage during your recovery! There will be ups and downs- physically and spiritually in the coming weeks. Just remember, when you find bouts of frustrstion, all of the work in recovery will mean that much more the moment you get on the water!

Thank you for such tremendous and genuine content! This Kansas family wishes you all the best!

Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m very thankful to be in good spirits. I’ve been surrounded by amazing family and friends supporting me through the hardships. It’s also not my first go round with injury. I think this is broken body part #6. I was a wild child when I was younger. It’s been great to get some mobility back. The kids took me on a scoot around our little neighborhood pond. Can’t wait to get out there in my Kayak soon! Thanks for checking in.
